Your skill at staying steady. Calming yourself when feelings get wild. In a state of being able to bounce back. Rebooting.
But there’s a catch. Self-regulation can’t always be done by yourself.
We first need to establish your history and experience of co-regulation. We can’t really self-regulate until we have been attuned to by another person/being. some of us get this attunement when we are babies. some of us don’t. some of us can figure it out on our own. most of can’t.
our work is to track your nervous system and emotional states…. together. then you can self-regulate on your own when it feels right.
